I'm probably guilty of romanticizing the idea of living in Brooklyn. I can't help it. I could spin platitudes about diversity and energy and "if you can make it here you can make it anywhere", but you've surely heard them before. And everyone knows it's the fourth largest city in the U.S., even though it hasn't actually been a city since 1898.
I listened again to PJ Harvey's ode to pre-9/11 New York City, Stories for the City, Stories from the Sea the other day. It's probably one of my top 5 albums of all time. Someday I'll have to devote an entire post or posts to it. My favorite song on the record is probably "You Said Something". It got me to thinking what other songs I would want to listen to at 1AM on a Brooklyn rooftop. A mix of classics, recent stuff, and deep cuts.
